JOINT REPLACEMENT

Joint Replacement

Joint replacement refers to the procedure of orthopedic surgery in which an arthritic or damaged joint surface is replaced with an artificial prosthetic.

These procedures are very successful and result in complete pain relief if done appropriately and by highly experienced orthopedic surgeons.

  • Total hip replacement

Hip replacement surgery involves replacement of the hip ball and socket joint with artificial prosthetic. Many different implants and metals are available worldwide.

FDA approved products have the longest durability due to rigorous testing they have to go through.

  • Total ankle replacement

Ankle replacement surgery is done for severe arthritis of the ankle joint. When the pain is unbearable an alternative is to replace the joint to get rid of the arthritic pain. This procedure involves placing synthetic components on the surfaces of the  tibia and the talus. A plastic liner is placed between the metal parts to enable the hinge-like motion of the healthy ankle.
